You can't say that EUROPE is a different continent when their border is just vaguely across some mountains, or you'd have to say India is its own continent. The isthmus of panama is so narrow that North and South America are different continents, and there's a damn canal that split it anyway. Don't even start with "b-but it's man-made!" Yeah, so is the Suez Canal. If you make "America" a continent, you get the hideously massive Afro-Eurasia as well.

We were called Nueva Granada until Bolivar decided to use Colombia. Here the name "colombia" only became a thing in the 1800s thanks to Francisco de Miranda but was only used for Gran Colombia, not all of south america.
