Because rich people are strong, good people who get along with everyone everywhere. Natural leaders, whether in their own country or abroad. Poor people tho are weak, stupid, etc., and thus prone to disputes and misunderstandings. So they try to close their society's membership for the outside world in order to be treated better. Nationalism/right-wing populism is truly egalitarian because it recognizes only ethnic identity as a pertinent quality to the exclusion of all else. Globalism/leftism on the other hand is a form of social Darwinism, because its supporters recognize only genetic predispositions such as IQ and physical fitness as indicators of a person's worth regardless of ascribed or imagined traits such as ethnic or religious belonging.
