Why do Americans drive automatic?

tbqh why wouldn't they? their gas is cheaper than here so the argument about better burning in manual is moot.

Unless you plan on drag racing, why would you want a manual?

it's fun. helps keep the driver driving
Because gas is cheap and it's easier dumbass
Why would you voluntarily want to make driving a little harder, guarantee you'll want a self driving car when they're released
nice attempt at making yourself feel better for living in a shit country lol

A basic control of your car?
>>61016346
because you can eat and drive at the same time

most modern automatics "feel" what you want to by how you operate gas though. sure it isn't as precise as a manual, but you shouldn't be reducing to 3 to overtake someone going "just" 90 anyway, right? ;^)

This pole is right, also driving automatic is comfy as fuck
>>61016912
i've just driven both... and I actually prefer manual, but still drive auto since i live in a "big" (by our standards) city.
I feel like people actually arguing for either have only driven one, but I guess it's like that with most things

I once had someone try to tell me that manual takes less cognitive effort than automatic.

They are used to driving scooters.
>>61016346
Most cars are automatic by standard there so that's what they teach.

Sorry but the Americans win this one, it's way more practical and comfy.
Because I dont have to buy a clutch kit and replacing it every 80,000 miles. Automatics on reliable cars can last an upwards of 300,000 miles without an issue. Replacement? Its a plug and play system by replacing one from the local junkyard
Cheaper non performance cars have to deal with shitty clutch kits from Duralast
