My family has about 5000 members in it already (I add more every once in a while; this pic has about 4000 in it). Less than 10 are non-Slovene, but they were all married to very distant relatives. All of my direct ancestors are Slovene. Also, the oldest man in the tree was born around 1450.

My closest relatives on my grandmother's side come from the collected work of my aunt and grandmother, the grandfather's side is a mix of my grandmother's information and my own research and more distant relatives are from a genealogist who researched his own family tree and I discovered was connected to me through several people in my tree.

It sure puts things into perspective and makes one think. Once, I read that all Slovenes are related 20 generations back and looking at my tree, I can believe it - when I started working on the tree, I thought the result would be several unconnected branches but this pic clearly shows that there was marriage going on between these branches hundreds of years ago. And it's also quite sad to look at someone in the family tree far back with no descendants, thinking how many people could hail from that one man far back. It made me think how miraculous the fact that I exist today is.
