Why do slovaks look so sad all the time? They either look sad or angry. I spent a few hours in Bratislava last summer and everyone there was good-looking, but there was this general feel of hostility. I took a bus to the airport there and, for like thirty minutes or so, no one said a fucking word. And this was a packed, long-ass bus. My friend tried to cede his seat to an old slovakian lady who was standing beside him and she refused, having preferred to stand for the whole duration of the trip than to accept my friend's kind offering.
Everywhere I went, I saw bydlo and stunningly-beautiful women.
Needless to say, my irresistible iberian charm came to conquer the sights of some of the women there.

Why the fuck? Seriously, I was there for a few hours and I had never felt so unwelcomed before. It's not that my looks gave my foreignness away, it was just the fact that I was speaking another language. The moment we uttered a word in portuguese or english, people would cease their chatter and start eyeing us either inquisitively or menacingly.
They must've thought I was gay or something (I was on a trip with a male friend - just me and him).
People tried to scam us and shit. What a disgrace. On the other hand, though, the women were always pretty receptive. We tried talking to so many people - mainly because we wanted to know where the bus station was. Most of the guidance we received was relayed by women. Most of the men we tried talking to in english just muttered some shit and looked away, save for a few exceptions, such as the guy who tried to scam me at the restaurant.

I'm pretty pale, and I was even more so then than I am now, as I had spent that whole summer indoors, and wasn't tanned at all as a result of that.
One thing is for sure, though. I'm brown-haired & brown-eyed with a more "western" look, so that made me stand out, still... if anything, the odd looks were a reaction to my friend's "alternative" clothing. Now that I come to think of it, that's probably the reason behind this shit.
