what is the benefit with speak british english instead of american english?
>>60953865
American English-Made simple for simple people (Americans)
>>60953865
since you're in the western hemisphere probably not. I think British English is spoken by more people than American when you take India etc into account, but honestly they're the same language.
>>60953928
English is the simplest language as it is
>>60953865
American English is pretty much the same as British English, the main difference being some weird spelling differences (color/colour) and word choice (fries/chips). But speaking/writing one means you can easily understand the other.
>>60953865
You get more respect, and people generally think you're slightly more intelligent.
Like Louis Theroux.
>>60953865
There's not a ton of differences between the two anymore. The 21st century is seeing the two rapidly converge thanks to the internet and mass media. A lot of American terms are entering the British lexicon and a lot of British terms are entering the American lexicon.
True English pros should be comfortable with both.
implying a non native english speaker would be able to speak with any native accent
also you are implying that there are any significant differences between the dialects
>>60953928
>unironically believing this meme
>>60954404
typing ou instead of o, and saying in hospital instead of in the hospital is infinitely more complex
>>60953865
Foreigners speak American English due to Americanisation.
In theory by speaking British English you're not giving in to Americanisation.
>haha dude americans are so dumb man, what? I'm not american man I'm French cowabunga how could you not tell dude!
>>60954444
We also add s to the end of directional adverbs, like "went forwards" rather than "went forward".
Rule Britannia!
>>60953865
You can not replicate British English as non native, go with whatever accent comes out of your mouth
>>60954513
Americans say forward instead of forwards?
>>60954516
dunno met plenty of poles, portugese etc who pick up a very strong english accent after living here for a couple of years.
>>60954557
im thinking about it and it is half and half. i would say went forward, but would also say went backwards.
>>60953865
It literally doesn't matter. It's always non-English speaking natives who try to start some sort of rivalry between Americans and Brits.
>>60954557
I've heard both desu
>>60954513
We say both actually.
>>60954749
Next you'll be telling me you guys don't eat in the American style.
>>60954835
>eat in the American style
I'm... intrigued. Do Brits not eat food with their mouths?
>>60954915
>brits dont piss and shit out of their cunthole
>>60954915
I use my third eye
>>60954915
The American style involves cutting the food with the knife in the right and the fork in the left, switching knife and fork over, eating, then repeating.
>>60953865
British English sounds better imo and they use the correct spelling
>>60954990
The farthest I go with food etiquette is:
>no elbows on table
>chew with your mouth closed
>>60953865
There isn't one. American English is the variety used by the majority of native speakers, so that is the logical choice for anyone wanting to learn the language.
>>60955283
>Why yes I want to learn Ebonics
Basically what you're saying when you want to learn American English.
>>60954990
That's a pretty autistic remark.
>>60953865
God created English English. American is a man-made corruption.
I don't care wether you speak British or American English. I'm just glad we are able to easily communicate :)
>>60955464
>God created English English
i never knew french people were god
>>60955535
Fag
>>60955371
Ebonics is basically Chav speak for black people
>>60956047
Yeah but most White Americans have adopted it.
>>60956083
>a fucking leaf
>>60954513
that sure makes my head hurt
>>60953865
The preferred term is "Relevant English"
The satisfaction of being correct.
>>60956551
That was probably before you all started speaking Spanish
>american english
>it's actually spanish
>>60956815
>una puto hoja
>>60953865
Why go for an accent when you can learn the original?
>>60956918
Reminder that American English is actually immaculately preserved Shakespearean English and that modern Bri'ish """"""""English"""""""" is some inbred Franco-Pakistani dialect.
>>60956974
Reminder that this is an absolute meme and in reality the colonies were full of mongs who dumbed down the language.
>>60956974
reminder that most americans can't even speak english and prefer their native spanish.
>>60957075
>>60957086
You're clearly in denial, and I pity you.
>mfw Elizabeth would've sounded like a qt southern belle
>>60957287
>mfw you are a spic
>>60957287
The mental image of that disturbs me
>>60957375
>mfw you don't speak real english
>>60957442
>paco thinks he speaks proper english
you're gonna get deported soon L O L
>>60957590
Is "paco" some of that chav slang?
>>60957590
SHUT UP
