"The left" is pretty nebulous (partly composed of minority vote-rigging blocs, progressive ideologues, etc.), but its biggest base in Canada is in extremely rich college students, who have nothing going in their lives.
They spent their youths partying on daddy's money and going on European vacations, and now they live in trendy gated hipster communities (like the Annex in Toronto), and only go between there, campus, and expensive hipster venues. Because their lives are meaningless hollow nothings and they will never really work to support themselves, they have too much time to "think." But they're weak spoiled overfed brats, so they mostly think about how the whole world needs to get shit for free, like them, and how everything should be like it is in progressive fairytales that have no contact with reality either.
