How do you feel about colonizing other planets?
If enough people colonize Mars, would it be politically divided into individual colonies (like city-states)?
An extraplanetary colony would start off like an even more extreme Antarctic research base: Depressing, boring and sciencey. Not very fun.
It would be extremely hard to predict what would happen once they got past the science base stage and developed autonomy, I guess they would reflect the New Worlders and mostly forget their past, creating a martian culture.
The Red Mars books are relevant and talk about this.

this sci fi reflects the society in the present much like 10k leagues, gullivers travel and invaders from mars in their own times, a kind of a reversal in globalist trends
not saying it wouldn't happen but when we do have the technology to there would probably be more exciting things to worry about
since 10k leagues is possible but realistically speaking not many people get to do it, it will be the same for colonizing other planets
either too few pioneer spots in the beginning or it becomes a refugee for the downtrodden, the rest of us will just go with whatever the economy is suited at, there is always a frontier in time and space, few get to experience it
