As a person with engineering education I have stricter standards of what constitutes conclusive evidence and what doesn't, so this "conversion is impossible" thing seems likely to me, but not a hard fact. Considering that full acceptance of homosexualism in Europe like 10 years old we've yet to see the result of homosexuality being fully accepted on political level over a prolonged period, say two generations.
As it is, homo laws in my country are not really oppressive, aome of them are more liberal than those in some Western countries and US states. So since there's no real oppression and no real rush to fix the non-problem of gay rights, I say it'd be cool if we wait and see, then in 50 years catch up to the West if nothing happens :3

yeh that's true, but other things, like say gay profiling isn't present in Russia
by profiling I mean that in most European scountries and US states it's either forbidden for gay people to donate blood or the prectise is very restricted
in Russia there's no profiling on whether you're gay or not and even if you say you are there's no restriction. In essence, the government doesn't consider you less of a person if you're gay. Funny thing, the prectice is different in other ex-USSR countries that consider themselves progressive, like say Blatics which on other points have almost the same laws as Russia
