Currently it's USA, China, Japan, Germany, UK. We're 5th right now.

But India will shoot up due to its population. Even if their growth slows, tiny per capita improvements on a huge population will add fuckloads to their GDP (like with China).

So India will hit 3rd place soon, which will put the UK 4th. This is nothing out of the ordinary, if you remember that China and India have been the top 2 economies for most of history (if you consider their modern borders). See pic, it's GDP from 1870 when British Empire was at max strength.

>>60756850
>good job
For a country this small with our population it's incredible to be in 5th place let alone 4th. Go and look up the physical and population sizes of the countries we're ahead of. You know GDP is the sum of all economic activity right? Population boosts it

We're closing the gap on Japan even faster than Germany. It will take longer because of the population difference but have you seen their demographics?

Japan's population is not only falling but their retired:working age ratio is fucking big. UK has a growing population and a relatively speaking younger population. The actual workforce in Britain isn't shrinking.

>Do you really think that the japanese stagnation will endure for 20 more years?

These are long-term trends. What do you think is going to happen to Japan's ageing population? It will keep ageing and die slowly, over decades, unless the Japanese develop a taste for mass euthanasia.

Or do you think the Japanese culture will completely change and they'll develop a taste for mass immigration? Because they'll need far higher immigration than the UK in order to stay ahead of us that way.

>>60757540
>that's because you're importing pakis and caribbeans by the millions
Nope, we're not. Majority of our immigration is European.

>your fertility rate is as shitty as theirs
See pic, UK is around 2.0. Japan has been predicted to make a miraculous recovery by people like you many times before. Remind me how long Japan has been stagnating.
>>

>and Algeria and India will overtake the UK
Algeria hasn't got a hope in hell, sounds like you've got no idea.

India is expected and fine. They should be ahead of us already, it's to their shame that they're still behind. When the UK was the most powerful country in the world we still had a smaller economy than India, the population makes it inevitable

>>

Oh ok

>but it would be the fault off our governments
It would be the fault of the British people who voted in a majority to Leave. If that happened, any government would be in a difficult situation.

Because the major EU countries will want to make life as hard as possible for a Leave Britain in order to make leaving the EU look unappetising. Because they will be terrified of the rest of the EU falling apart. And it will all fall on us.

No it isn't you dumb fuck. Have you seen the size of our country/population? It's nearly impossible to be 1st when up against countries so much larger.

We actually had the largest Empire in history with the 3rd largest economy, which is something the USA would certainly be incapable of achieving

You know what other country exceeds India atm? Also five times larger isn't that impressive.

China and India: 1 billion+

USA: 320 million

UK: 65 million (not even 20th in the world in terms of population)

And you're doing a straight comparison like a retard.

>>60758472

Haha oh shit, I needed a laugh. Brazil actually did pass us for a few minutes at the height of our financial crisis and recession.

Then the UK started growing at a steady pace again while Brazil and Russia got progressively more fucked by resource-reliance and corruption.

I'm ok with britain overtaking Germany in economic growth.

Just make this shitty entity called EU to disappear.

Also if Britains wouldn't grow fast it will be running towards the same trap as Japan.
The whole show in Japan is debt financed.
And Current Britain works the same way. You need to grow GDP fast to out grow the interests. Everything else would lead to a slow death like we currently see it in Japan.

Retard here. How did Saudi Arabia's GDP double in one year?
>>
>>60756366

>December 26 2015

This was before the retard, I mean leave, campaign got momentum. We're going to imitate Japan in a bit where we pretend the only city that matters is our tumour of a capital, and we just watch the economy sliiiiiide, as we trade with fuckall, as China and South America are pretty terrible trading partners. No offense to the citizens, I merely imply that your governments are having a tumble soon/right now.

Besides, long term economic predictions aren't exactly reliable. There was a time when Japan was going to 'overtake' the US, but that fell apart when they realised there's only so much you can cover in concrete. China's fucked as soon as it's citizens realise their government isn't strong/smart enough to control them anymore, and civil war will begin (again). Texas wants a civil war in the US, but they're probably never going to get it. The south still doesn't have that strong of an economy, and not everyone is as crazy as a blue blood 'lone star'.
>>
>>60758758
The EU as we currently know it is a dead man walking whatever the outcome of our referendum.

The Eurozone cannot continue as it is. Either the Eurozone becomes a federal single country, consisting of the Eurozone member states that wish to be part of that, or it all breaks up. EU non-Eurozone states like the UK would have some sort of associate agreement with the federal Eurozone.

Brexit would just accelerate things one way or the other

>>60759019
>How did Saudi Arabia's GDP double in one year?
It didn't. Cycle through the years in:
https://knoema.com/nwnfkne/world-gdp-ranking-2015-data-and-charts

You're that American who's eternally lurking waiting for me to post about economics so you can have the nominal/PPP debate again.

Now you're pretending to be a retard rather than just being a retard.
>>

>>

>but nominal is more important than PPP
For comparisons of countries from the international perspective, yes. Although PPP becomes more important if we're talking about individuals and their spending power.
>>
>>60759392
>Would britain please accellerate the inavitable, please.

But it hurts us more that way. I want the UK to be part of the EU when it falls apart, not the reason it falls apart. If we're still a member state then we'll have a stronger position to work from, instead of being isolated against everyone (at least at the start).

Full sovereignty wouldn't hurting you at all.
Also never forget all the foreign influx from the EU, that realy hurts!
We have 7 billion € per ano worth of refugees...I'm pretty sure they will find out one day that learning German is much harder than learning English...
I'd look ahead and dodge this horrible moment.

Look at Merkels face...do you want to stay in the EU? no!
>>
>>60759687
>Full sovereignty wouldn't hurting you at all.

Loss of influence over the other European countries would hurt us, and so would disruption of our trade agreements. Why do you think the UK government pooled some sovereignty in the first place? They decided they didn't like power? Give me a fucking break you can't be that stupid.

>We have 7 billion € per ano worth of refugees...I'm pretty sure they will find out one day that learning German is much harder than learning English...
They can't come here, we're not part of that refugee thing. We take a few thousand from refugee camps and some children, that's it.
