In order to try and be less ignorant of geography I've started putting maps of countries up as my desktop background to occasionally look at and memorize
Already did Africa and Australia and it works really well, now working on UK and Germany
I really recommend it

I've thought for a long time that they should do this with computers in schools. Pupils would be bound to eventually absorb at least something (even if unwittingly) over the years while staring at it when programs are loading or the OS is booting up.

Never thought of it for PC backgrounds but I've memorized a lot from maps and posters on walls in class as a kid. When you're sitting around bored and waiting for class to end, it gave you something to think about
