But in reality we have attained special snowflake status in the EU. We have a lot of exemptions (Schengen, Euro, further political integration etc.) in the EU but still have a lot of influence in it. Wikipedia says Crimea had been in Ukranian hands since 1954. Not that it matters much to me, 1 year or 500 years. It's not like there's a statute of limitations on when irredentistic war is justifiable.

A lot of Ukranians are still ethnically Russian, and might I remind you Crimea actually voted on joining Russia.
It wouldn't have been necessary if the U.S. hadn't instated a coup in Ukraine to replace the leaders with Western puppets.
I don't love Russia, but Russia's involvement in Ukraine is more justified than Iraq, which was invaded under false WMD claims.
