A few days a few anons and I voted and we decided we wanted to learn Swedish.
Swedish was chosen due to it's relative simplicity and it's proximity to English.
This thread is for discussion in/about the Swedish language. Share your favorite language learning tools, and practice your written Swedish, while native swedes correct you.
We're all very new to the language, so you won't be far behind if you start now, most of us are only a day or two into the Swedish Duolingo tree.

I was in stockholm last week, amazing city btw, and I had learned a bit of swedish in advance, nothing too fancy or anything. But what I immediately noticed was that you were nearly imposible to understand! Is this just the local accent of stockholm or do you all do this?

Maybe it's just your listening comprehension. No offense meant here, just that I've found that my listening comprehension develops at a much slower rate than my reading comprehension. Maybe that's normal or normal for some languages

They use e instead of ä in pronounciation. "Rekor" instead of "Räkor".

Språk är inte bara ett verktyg att kommunicera. Det påverkar hela din världsbild på ett radikalt sätt. Ju mindre språk du kan desto inskränktare världsbild får du.
