Holland is a region in the Netherlands.
The Netherlands is the country.
Dutch comes from the word for people I think and is used for the language. I think they are called Netherlanders normally.
Denmark is Danmark in Danish I think.
Danish is then logical.
Danes get their name from an ancient King called King Dan apparently.

No, it has a common origin though.
We still call Germans "Duitsers", and we still use the original meaning of Dutch/Deutsch/Duits/Diets in words like Duidelijk (Clear) or Duiden (To point out).
