I rescued a Frenchman in the Black Sea from drowning during bad weather. He was 200m out and we could barely see him in the waves. Swam out with two of us and one went back to the beach (we were o100m from the beach). Before we swam further outside into the current, I talked with my friend if we could make it back from there. We were unsure but swam anyway.
It took only a few minutes to reach him, but the current was really strong and we could barely make way to coast. I lost my friend at the strongest point and then I only remeber how I walked out of the water, sat him down in front of the gathered crowd. Apparently I passed out there from exhaustion. I knew I was fit as fuck back then, but I was probably close to drowning myself.
Further out on the sea, one guy drowned with his air matress that day and two others were rescued by boat. That was relly a strange wind and current
