We recently contracted the French to deliver a series of state of the art Submarines that will be constructed here in Australia. Japan and Germany were also contenders for the deal, but their proposals were rejected for various reasons.
Our military has very strong ties to NZ, USA, Singapore, UK, Canada (and previously the Phillipines, although Duterte has other ideas).

At the moment they're in the middle of buying new equipment, most recently they've decided to buy twelve submarines from the French and have changed the multicam uniforms of all branches.
