Could the US split up? The hatred between the right and left seems intense at the moment, intense enough for people to want live away from other people with polar political views. I'm not saying I want it to happen btw, just seems more emotional than ever before.

no its not going to split up, its just intense polarization that will result in the complete and utter destruction of the current party system (this does not necessarily mean new parties, just drastic realignment through one or more elections until the parties either self destruct and create new ones or until they settle into better places that might be better than the shitshow they are now)

Trump winning isn't going to cause a civil war, it's going to cause a big "What do we do now" movement everywhere in the US, since the man hasn't a real political program.
