Japan has such high standards for success it's considered less disgraceful to live as a recluse eating nothing but ramen noodles and masturbating to anime, than to get a job but do worse than your parents. Japanese men would rather give up on life than try to live it while being always bitched at by their parents, wife, and children for not being career perfect in every way.
And honestly who wouldn't? I'd rather indulge myself and die via suicide, than sacrifice myself constantly for decreasing returns from an ungrateful family that's never satisfied and only makes you miserable.
Idk how nips even live in such an oppressive, demoralizing country. So much being demanded by a society that will still consider them failures no matter how they live their lives.
