it would still happen as you say, i mean, that already happens with sk and taiwan. i dont think russia would give it back to japan, because of the simple but knotty reason that the island has already a certain number of residents. i figure china on the other hand would take a similar position to taiwan.

I don't think Northern Territories and Takeshima matters as much as people make it out to be, Japan is never going to get those territories back although Putin might give back to the two southern islands. Senkakus seem to be real dispute but even then it's of questionable value for CCP so I feel like is ploy to rile up young people.
