The situation is getting worse every day, but the decline has stopped accelerating and slowed down its pace.

Just about every single new world country used disease as a method of ridding the local populace. It's no coincidence that Australia, NZ, America and Canada all have significantly low native populations. I can't speak for other countries, but some european settlers in SA did die of illnesses relating to the climate and different environment (malaria, skin cancer etc) , but not from illnesses passed on from natives. I assume this is due to the fact that Europeans had already found cures for these diseases
