German lerners, let's talk about this beautiful language: difficulties, encouragement, help and generally everything that has to do with learning German ITT
Why is 69 pronounced "nine and sixty" in German? Isnt it hell of confusing to speak the digits in the wrong order?
>>60310205
The structure of the german phrase is regressive.
That means the least important stuff is at the beginning of the sentence and the most important at the end.
>>60310205
We're used to it but yeah it's retarded
>>60310828
Isn't it even worse in French tho (with numbers)
>>60310205
Why is it seidici but diciasette?
Just be thankful it's decimal and consequent.
I think brain scans actually proved it takes longer to process the way German has it though.
>>60311044
Yeah. 99 in French is four twenty ten nine (no joke).
>>60311257
75 in french is sixty fifteen, btw.

Are they just too retarded to reform the language or are they okay with it being illogical and tedious?
>>60311421
>Are they just too retarded to reform the language
>said by an Anglo
really, fucking really
>>60310205
It's the same in afrikaans. You get used to it

Hey guys,
If anyone is in the process of learning German or is seriously considering learning German I invite you to join a Skype group of Germans and German learners.
We're a group of fellow /int/ browsers that are all learning German or already speak German. We've been together for over a year now and are all basically good friends now so we do talk about whatever but if anyone has any questions about German whatsoever they are free to ask questions in the group and should get a response usually instantly. We also provide you with the opportunity to have people to practice conversing in German with. Look forward to seeing a few new people. Native Germans are also welcome to join.

yeah, its retarded, if you want to write down longer number, you can just hope people say the single digits in your case six-nine
>>60311044
mon dieu. how did i never notice this before.
>>60310205
Same in dutch. I actually have difficulties with it in dutch because I speak english so often.
>>60312577
I screw up all the time when I switch often between German and English.
>>60310205
It's like that will almost all Germanic language iirc. English just happens to be the racemixed baby of multiple languages.
