For whites no, Blacks were treated as second class citizens under white rule in many African countries, but second class citizens does not equal slave tier treatment, they weren't as free or independent as the white man, but they certainly weren't as oppressed as people make out.
Look at the country now though, crime rates have sky rocketed since black rule. South Africa was far far better of under white rule, however the world wanted them to 'modernise' and treat everyone equally.
Same as in Rhodesia. The ironic thing is people thought Zimbabwe was good because it brought equality to black people, what they fail to mention is whites are now oppressed in Zimbabwe, in some cases worse than the blacks were under Rhodesian rule.

My great grandfather lived in British Rhodesia, and my family after him. My grandfather told me stories of how when my great grandfather got there, local black tribes were massacring each other left right and centre, and dying of disease en masse.
