I have just imagined an autistic little math problem. Suppose a small limited amount of colors, a fixed 2:3 pattern, and one of two orientations for a tricolor of equal segments. find the number of distinct (yet still easily confused) flags.

The point is that the tricolor is beaten to death, to the point that a novice has a little difficulty telling which is which. This defeats the purpose of a flag.
If for whatever reason a country decides to use a tricolor, a little hint of meaingful detail somewhere, anywhere makes all the difference. No one has said that there needs to be an ugly seal in the middle. Get creative. the UK did.
