I haven't played it, but for one it doesn't have customizable classes, no random spawn points, all the guns use different firing cones and bullet types.
As for it being different from TF2, its pretty similar but instead of having different items per class you have a larger group of "classes" that each have their own static skill set. The only similarity i've seen is they have a hero that make sentries and there is a "push the objective" game mode

Honestly I think Zenyatta's main problem is that the community thinks that, because he is labeled as a support, nobody else can pick a support if you have a zenyatta which isn't true for him or tech support lady. They both work best when there is already another support on the team. On top of that he's the hardest to use right now because he requires a lot of awareness of pretty much everything, where your teammates are, where every flank on the map is, what classes are going to try and target you and where you should position yourself so that you can heal your team and pick off enemies without getting steamrolled by a genji/mcREEE/Tracer
