Should Germany pay Poland reparations for World War 2?
>>
>>60111931
Germany should pay Europe reparations for what happen nowadays.
>>
>>60111931
No, but Germany should get at least Schlesien amd Pommern back. They can keep Prussia. And Poland should get their former eastern territory back. Everyone would be happy then.
>>
>>60112085
what happens to the people who live in Schlesien, Pommern and Russian territories of Poalnd?

Germany is already paying via EU. What is really a pressing matter is that Russia rejects to pay us reparations.
>>

>>
Reparations dont make any sense, they are all illogical. If you cant take it, it's not yours.

Poland should wait 10 or 20 years for Germany to turn into Turkmanystan and just take whatever reparations it wants lmao.
>>
There was actually a plan to give a large part of Germany to the Netherlands, but the US pressured us out of it using the Marshall help as leverage.

EU contributions are not reparations, but a neighbourly help to enable Poland to get back on its feet. Eventually, you are expected to become net contributor in EU

I thought it was commonly known. YEltsin offered Germany to buy East Prussia (Kaliningrad) but the Germans declined out of political reasons, remember they were just re-united and that issue was already controversial enough.

It is for example mentioned here:
http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2010/jul/31/kalingrad-kant-home-return-german

They needed money and fast, Yeltsin was selling everything, Russia almost got split into 5 parts (that was an idea at one time).

It would be a move as stupid as the sale of Alaska back in the days. Kaliningrad/Konigsberg/Krolewiec is of strategical importance (sea access)

Those fucking islamists only got political power because russians killed almost all secular Chechen rulers in First Chechen War. They killed Dzhohar Dudayev, who even didn't know that Chechens pray 5 times per day, (he thought that they pray 3 times, like in Iran, lel). This shows how much he gave a fuck about religion, he was actually an atheist, the soviet air force general

If it is paternal line and in one line, you could reclaim the title. At least in Belgium that is possible.

>>60121025

>>
>>60121141
No it doesn't matter, you have to provide the family tree and pay a fee for the conforming research, somewhere between 500 and 1000 euros.

There are people here who have done that. Jean Breydel reclaimed his knightly title and is now again ridder/chevalier Breydel de Groeninghe.

Everything above baron is hereditary anyway. The right to the use of the particule (van, de) is in both languages. Or you can even decide to keep the dutchified name but you'll receive an official title, and you will be invited to the yearly meetings of nobles.

Of course you will need Belgian nationality first, but that should be easy.

Polish and Russian noble families have done this to keep their title after having to flee communism.

Not many people are in your situation, you should consider it, one should always honour his heritage.
>>
>>60121749
>conforming research,

* confirming research

typo
>>
Do you already have a complete family tree going back to your noble ancestors?

When it is validated, it gets published in the State Gazette (Staatsblad) and you'll receive your title from the king during the yearly traditional ceremony.

I don't know if it is possible in the Netherlands, but I thought that there no new titles are commissioned anymore. So probably not.

The title received will be heriditary through the male line, so your first-born son. Although I've heard it has been changed now and (Salian law has been abolished, first daughter also has right now), but that could be only for the royal family.
>>
>>60121749
Well, they came from Arras (France). But their territory wasn't that big I guess (perhaps a few towns) and the name of my family is just incorporated in the names of two towns. The territory itself disappeared of the map. Another family, which was probably richer, annexed it to their territory. In the 16th century, when the Bourbons came in, they went to Canterbury for a few years. They've married some other French people there and after that they ended up in the Netherlands. I say "they", but it's perhaps just one person. In the Netherlands, they've gained freedom, but they still married francophone people till the beginning of the 18th century. During the years they've translated the name in a Dutch version. The particle "de" was lost. And this is the way I got my surname. During the 18th en the 19th century the family used to work in the textile industry. (Not very noble), and in the 20th century I was born. The paternal line hasn't realy had any noble jobs after their "exodus". Some were just soldiers and one of them starved for this country in the Dutch Indies. Perhaps it's worth to reclaim the title, but it's expensive and my family will never get their territory back, I guess. Post-medieval rulers will claim it otherwise. So if I have more than enough money, I'm willing to try to restore it in France and even connect the right coat of arms with my name. I am just aware of the fact that my life isn't going to change anyway, but thank you for you help.
>>
>>60122316
I have a brother, so that's not going to work our well. However, I'm willing to do this for him.
>>
>>60122839
The jobs and positions you don't have to worry about. Not everyone with a noble title is rich and upper class. There are people with titles and/or epitheta who are factory workers. History have not always been kind, or sometimes they became poor because of gambling, or not jumping on the industrialisation wagon in the 19th century.

There are different types of nobility, but in your case, old medieval nobility, a proof of nobility on paper isn't necessary, none of the old medieval noble families have them, because such a thing wass introduced in later times, and they assumed everyone knew they were nobles.

You said the title was marquis, that's one above count and viscount. A family tree in paternal line is all you need. Believe me, there are people, historians and dedicated amateurs, who will do alot of the research to validate your claim. This is all done by one organisation in Brussels with the largest archives on the matter. It can of course take some time, birth records, marriage and death certificates will have to be checked in different local archives, in different countries in your case.

But as a marquis, often the whole family is noble. If there were specifics around that in the past, that will have to be researched, but a common example is: the male head of the family carries the title, and the other males are either a lower title (in your case that would be commonly baron or knight), or untitled but officially considered noble (jonkheer).

Only titles come on your identity card though.

Also, you will in your case likely recieve back the right to the particule, and also an epitheton (the name of the land your family owned).

Of course you will have no real right to the land, but you can reclaim the right to carry the name of the land that was historically possession of your family.

So your name would change into

[first-name] [title] [particule] [last-name] ([particule] [name of possession])

() can be repeated if more than 1
>>
>>60122937
But I have read that the brothers of Jean Breydel have got their title either, so perhaps I'm able to fix something. I think I should just hope that I will get one son and a lot of daughters
>>
>>60122839
>I'm willing to try to restore it in France

You cannot restore a title in France. You can however recieve the right to carry an epitheton with particule with the possessions historically belonging to your family, but then you well need to be a French citizen.

The father of former president Valéry Giscard d'Estaing did that, here he referred to a direct blood-connection with the high noble family the dukes of Estaing (and now we know the connection was probably a fraud but he got away with it).

That is also possible, then it would be [last-name][particule][noble family name], without title.
>>
All is forgiven if you wake up and become what you are supposed to be germany. Help yourself and then us.
>>
>>60124046
Jean Breydel was the case of a hereditary knighted family. Knights are the lowest noble rank, not necessarily hereditary.

Marquis, however, is the highest of lower nobility, or the lowest of higher nobility, depends on how you look at it.

Have you checked your ancestor's name in the Almanach de Gotha btw? You'll find it on archive.org

We converted to Islam very fairly late, that's true, but I don't know when exactly. I think we started to convert much earlier, but not the whole nation at once, just in stages.
>I've read that although christianity and islam were both present, most Chechens were polytheist pagans until the late 19th century?
I think it could be so, especially among highlanders. But now we are losing our old traditions and culture and getting much more islamic and russian influence.
I would like to if we preserve our old pre islamic culture.

The Ossetians, another Caucasian people, have also amongst the rural people preserved their pagan traditions and folklore. Now it is being revived by the younger people, both from the rural areas and the cities.

Due to the proximity, I think the costums might be similar. They have been compaared to old Celtic costums, apparently they are quite similar.
