hmong are pale-skinned and are usually chicanos. don't personally know any.
cambodians are darker, and usually adapt to ghetto/black culture.
laotians are somewhere in between, and probably are similar to hmong
no real population of burmese in the US
So are they Chinese, or Japanese?

Laos and Cambodia were both territories of the Siamese Empire, before the French came and forced us to give them up.
We took them back during WW2 when we were allied with Japan but the Allies made us give them back to France in exchange for being treated as a victim of the Axis powers instead of a collaborator.
Eventually France gave them both up and they became independent, equally irrelevant shitholes instead of being part of modern Thailand, which remains the second largest economy in SE Asia despite the unjust loss of those territories.
I do hope they return to the fold eventually one day.
Laos is basically ours in everything but name.

Bruneian people are mostly Muslim and they speak Malay
They point with their thumb like Indonesians.
Cambodians and the khmer people have their own society influenced mainly by indic cultures mixed with their own customs.
Together with Thai and Laos they kind of form a common cultural canon based off of Indias. This is in contrast to Vietnam which tends to follow the East Asian/Chinese/Confucian canon.
Don't know much about hmong tho.
