Nah man the zookeepers would NEVER want to hurt the thing, these animals are family to them. But you can't tranq it because of the time it takes to go down and it would likely react by getting pissed. Only other way would have been to send someone in and risk their life to save the kid by getting it away from the gorilla. Honestly it's a massive fucking bummer but they took their only viable option. I'm sure they feel shit about it
