It's true, I had to do a project on them when I was a kid.
>>60019951
Same here. They were easy to catch, found everywhere and not as disgusting as spiders and insects, except the ones with eggs.

Potato bug or bill bug (I'm actually Canadian)
>>60019951
I don't about screaming like a little girl. That's embarrassing but it's better to be cautious of contact with insects. Kids are stupid, they touch everything. If it's an unfamiliar bug it might be poisonous or venomous and familiar bugs you know are harmless might be carrying disease and parasites.

daddy longlegs are still cool, I like them because I remember watching a documentary about them as a child and they only eat moss or something like that. Which made them less scary than spiders.
>>60020403
daddy long legs are alright, and I'm okay with most insects but big spiders creep me out, fucking hate them.

Yes that's my point, it seems Russians use the British term for it rather than whatever the American term for it is.
>>60021051
Ah ok, it is because British English > American English.
pissenbedden, literally translated piss beds
>>60021034
They eat dead leafs and plant life.
>>60021034
>The woodlouse is a herbivorous animal and therefore only eats organic plant matter. The woodlouse rarely eats live plants and feeds on the decaying leaf and plant matter found on the forest floor such as leaves, rotting wood and fruits that fall from the trees above.
>>60021008
It's because most animal names come from native Indian languages like tuppi-guarani
Jaguatirica is one of my favourite Brazilian animal names. It sounds nice and I think it goes well with the animal.

>>60021117
Tatu is indeed from tupi, and bola is just ball.
It's also this mammal's name, we also call the crustacean tatu (or tatuzinhos) because it looks like one.
>>60021151
I've always called them Granddaddy Longleggeds.

>>60019080

>>60021051

>>60021336
It's hard to believe this harmless looking animal causes leprosy.
>>60021336
Went to Nevada and killed shitloads of those fuckers last summer. Got paid for it, too.
Apparently they're very disease-ridden.
>>60021401
You can only see them in rural areas basically.
I don't remember the last time I've seen one, it was probably at the zoo when I was a kid.
>>60021336
Yes, I used to live in Brazil.
Tatus are adorable, although pangolins are even more. It's a shame they're both being hunted so much.
>>60021401
They are relatively rare. I mean, it's not hard to find them in the wilderness, but you won't see them anywhere near a town with over 100,000 inhabitants.
>>60021336
THAT is a tatu-bola. OP's picture is a tatuzinho de jardim.

Barbara is an ugly name, I don't really like it. It's one of those names I associate to people who spent a lot of time trying to pass highschool and after having finished uni and coming back to my hometown I find out they're pregnant/with a child.
Please refrain from calling me Barbara. Thank you in advance desu.
>>60020570
If we're talking about Cellar Spiders, I call them daddy long legs too.
>>60023068
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
On a side note what are those crustaceans you can find at beaches if you lift rocks? They kinda look like a mix of rollie pollies and roaches but larger than rollie pollies. They're okay if they're like one but if they're like a thousand they're disgusting af.
>>60023179
Barbara, stop being so uptight.

woodlouse and those giant ones in the pictures above are related, only the giant ones are found at sea. only i don't want to search again or look again to give the name. google 'giant woodlouse', you are looking at baby ones on the beach.
>>60023393
Fine I don't even like Portuguese girls anyway, you're uh... hairy, and uh... ugly.. yeah..
>>60023442
They are officially called Isopods
>>60023365
Yeah I think that's it. Do they burry themselves in the (wet) sand? I used to catch those in the beach when I was little. Buy then I saw like a thousand of them when lifting a rock and was forever disgusted.
>>60023559
Yeah, they tickle when you let them sit on your palm because they try to dig another hole
stonoga murowa

I have a house centipede stuck in my shower right now.
I'm trying to decide if I should kill it or let it live and eat other bugs in the house.
For now, I'll kill it if it doesn't escape my shower by the time I come back.
