They built that complex close in some slum area in order to start a process of gentrification, I doubt it will work well, though
That's some good 10 km away from downtown
ah yes, redeveloping this land would ruin the 'character' of this dump

guys i dont really think classical architecture is "healing" lol

It's so unbelievably tall. Imagine a city as congested as New York where all the buildings are that tall.
huge cities are nothing but dens of sin and cultural decay
>>59995896
yes it used to be more dense but it's because Manhattan is not really "residental" anymore
actually a lot of places used to have a higher population density
even Paris, which is still extremely dense today, used to be even more densely populated

it has the exact proportions of a roman basilica. It has Atlas in it. There are maps of the world on the floor. 2d globes to be exactly. I fucking envy your cathedrals
We have nothing like this here in Poland, our gothic churches look like some cheap attempts
>>60008718
How many French people live there. I can imagine that a lot of rich Russians, Sheiks, Chinese people and Japanese people want to buy these houses. Homestly, I'd not mind to live there too, if there were just fewer tourists.
>>60008828
>>60008887
So are you Polish or Korean ? I wonder everytime
Well I know someone who went to Poland and told me that sometimes there are towns that look bad (poor mostly) but the church is always perfect, in great shape, with beautiful gold paintings inside while the houses around are cracked, at least people there value more these kind of buildings I guess
>>60008897
Official population is 41, kek. Honestly I don't think many foreigners live there, most of these houses must be passed down in families. However there are a lot of them in places like Provence or South-West, in Dordogne there's a village with more Brits than French. I don't really mind, they bring money and most of them learn the language
Nice clear sky today.
>>60009109
lel I'm full Polish
>>60009109
>but the church is always perfect, in great shape, with beautiful gold paintings inside while the houses around are cracked, at least people there value more these kind of buildings I guess
Most of the churches in Poland are in good shape I think but their very design is really lacking imo atleast in comparison to the French marvels.
>>60008897
>Homestly, I'd not mind to live there too, if there were just fewer tourists.
Luckily (as long as you have money) there are still a lot of beautiful preserved villages that are unknown to foreigners, in place like the Massif Central for instance that aren't popular among non-French
>>60009265
Well speaking of bridge the Viaduc de Millau looks rad at night
>>60009362
I would love to go there. But how badly do you consider Dutch people as foreigners. And if you may wonder, I speak the language.

>>60009445
>how badly do you consider Dutch people as foreigners
I don't think people in these kind of places have bad prejudices against foreigners. In very touristic villages maybe, like the Mont Saint Michel or in Provence villages, because they see a lot of people. But otherwise as long as you speak French it's fine. In some places there is some redneck mentality, but it's not deep-America redneck (no offense)

True
I have been looking into pre war urban planning and found something interesting in germany, exactly what could be considered an euro-block.
It's called mietskaserne, and it's a mixed income mid rise type of building, with an entrance for fire cars and a patio in the middle. Looks like a perfect urban housing model, why aren't more people funding this?

>>60037942

Why do Asian cities have tons of light?
>>60030771
If you consider how much more of the existing nature they would have to alter to have a highway go down the valley and up again within the rules for how steep a european highway can be, I think the bridge is the best solution.
It also creates a pretty cool landmark which otherwise would be an ugly road.
>>60037812
for the most part, yes. Our modern architecture is mind-numbingly boring.
Thankfully a few of our rich people are vain and want their headquarters to look at least somewhat unique by giving them an interesting shape or a spire.
>>60038195
why wouldn't they have a lot of light?
>>60035131
Because we don't have all that much avant-garde "le intentional eyesore" architecture, many places go to great lengths to preserve older buildings, have residents that don't want eyesores and/or don't have the money for fashionable new buildings, plus on top of that most people are only an hour or two away (at most) from a national forest or a national park or a beach or some other beautiful public land.
Oh, and I forgot to mention that we don't have nearly as many apartment/condo towers as European cities and many houses (especially older ones on larger lots) have fairly extensive yards. I think that just having your very own green space helps with mental health.
>>60038501
Why can't they just enjoy the dark skies?
