Budapest's most popular public park, named Városliget, will be undergoind a huge refurbishing and re-functioning process in the coming years, with a whole museum quarter established in the stead of older, unused and rundown buildings and parking lots while also creating more green areas inside the park. The project is financed by the government and the EU.
Here's a little teaser for the project: https://youtu.be/fFChXzvOX2c
Pic related is how the new Museum of Ethnography will look like once it's built

Another significant urban project is the development of the Kopaszi dam area in southern Budapest, which includes the construction of a whole new neighbourhood in the Lágymányosi bay with modern apartment buildings, offices, shops and public spaces, as well as a 29 storey high, 120 metres tall skyscraper, which - if built - will be the country's highest building, and its first skyscraper

>>59971887
yeah, it was abandoned many years, something curious because is in the middle of the city, now is a monument
Finally, here's the government's much criticized project of completely reconstructing every building that was damaged and destroyed during the siege of Budapest and afterwards by the commies in the Castle District, including a riding hall, the Guard's House, an ornate flight of stairs. They also want to restore the Royal Palace into its former glory, by restoring some of its representative rooms and its art nouveau domes.
Although I think there are more pressing matters in Hungary than tidying up buildings and reconstructing old ones, I'm all for this project.
>>59972298

wew why?

It was an hospital but after the civil war, in Franco's dictatorship, was used as a warehouse and was slowly abandoned until 1980

why would you build a hospital like this
it looks more of a palace or something

annd why the fuck?
it doesn't make any "revenue" does it, it isn't representative either
I dont get it
>>59975404
Because they were religious building dedicated to the good of society.
Revenue was irrelevant in the middle ages.
>>59975357
Sorry but I think you're the only person on earth to think that.
Objectively, and it's a bit sad, nothing is more aesthetic than Chambord.
It's the pinnacle of architecture.
>>59975623
not feng shui/10
>>59975929
you don't need feng shui when you're the most powerful man on earth

people come to budapest for real history, not reconstructed fake stuff. if you make everything look shiny and new you risk loosing the historical appeal because it will look like disneyland
look at Paris, it's hundreds of years old and it still looks and feels old despite being refurbished to a modern standard
>>59981123
Yeah, specifically in Queens.

>>59975929
>>59975357
Asian castles look comfy as fuck, but I wouldn't call them more aesthetic than a big beautiful château.
>>59981240
well Paris wasn't bombed and besieged for months like Budapest was during WW2, destroying a significant amount of its historical parts, and it also knows fuck all about commies tearing down perfectly salvagable buildings or refurbishing everything to shit so that they would suit their own fucked-up anti-bourgeois taste, so you're comparison is pretty flawed there lad
>>59981240
nah as long as the reconstructions are historically accurate its completely fine

>>59984023
How is all of latin america so fucking shit? What is holding you back guys? Even Poland is steadily getting better.
>>59984320
Corruption and self-interest. Chile, Argentina and Uruguay aren't that bad though.
muh China
>>59984417
I've heard that all of these are overrated as fuck and actually aren't really any different from the rest of Latin America.
North Korea and South Korea decide to magically unify.
How do we plan cities in the North? Do we finish that weird pyramid building in Pyongyang?
>>59984560
Obviously they're not as good as Norway or Switzerland but in a Latin American level they are above us. Chile has a big chance of becoming a developed nation in about 10-15 years. Argentina and Uruguay still have a long road ahead.
>>59984624
>How do we plan cities in the North?
the problem is their cities are already planned and filled with shitty poor quality commieblocks
like people are bitching about highrises in South Korea but atleast they support high standards of living
>Do we finish that weird pyramid building in Pyongyang?
no fucking idea this shit is most probably economically unsustainable but it's obviously difficult to get rid of it either
>>59984691
What's the Chile's advantage over the rest?
>>59985013
So would we tear down the shitty commieblocks and replace them with apartments and then eventually high rises?
>>59985138
I don't think tearing down all these commieblocks will be financially feasible
honestly I wonder what's the SK's plan there - as they certainly have one(they already prepared $ billions)
>>59985056
High GDP per capita and HDI. In a couple years they'll be at Portugal's level. It's not much but Portugal is considered a developed country already.
>>59985420
Everything will probably be destroyed by artillery and bombs.
A war on that Peninsula is scary to imagine

>>59994082
Oh yeah, I guess if that's what you're looking for you won't get it from just a visit. From what I hear you won't really integrate well in any european country if you aren't from there.

>>59994131
Montreal?
>>59994217
Probably, all I know it's canada
I have a theory that classical architecture makes people happy and modern architecture (specially commie architecture) causes depression. Italy and France are the countries with the most classical architecture in Europe and our rates of depression are quite low. Meanwhile, Slavic countries with nothing but commieblocks are suicidal as fuck.
>>59994259
Cute
I don't think I know anyone who has ever visited Staten Island while on vacation here. Literally the who borough.
