Turns out that only 500 thousands people visited Brazil during the world cop and 350 thousand of those were Latin American themselves. Only 150 thousand of these were from USA and Europe, which is where the money is. Hundreds of hotels had disappointing profits during the world cup because the Latin American tourist were sleeping in tents in the streets or the beach, they even brought their own food, so not even restaurants profited.
In comparison, South Africa received 200 thousands tourists from Europe alone.
