As you can see I already explained it to him. It actually began in Europe, I believe. So of course it wouldn't exclusive to Japan.

>>59852191
Nobody knows. Some say the orange flag is older, but the red flag is actually older. But the red flag turned into orange to support the house of orange. later the orange flag disappeared again.
In WW2 the orange flag was used by the Nazi party, so now it's a bit tainted. But I'm sure it will make it's reappearance.
>>59852191
Something to do with the orange turning red on its own due to age and the sea air and orange being more expensive.
>>59852224
i thought that was belgium
>>59852311
It's a common misconception the French made our flag red.
>>59852191
It was changed under napoleon iirc, and they never changed it back.
>>59852311
Napoleon's brother, the bunny of holland, changed it because red was more visible on the seas.
>>59852398
Except you see lots of paintings from the golden century where the flag was already red.
this thread is now dedicated to making nordic crosses for germanic nations because we're dead inside

ARE YOU TALKING TO ME?
>>59852702
The jump in artistic ability and technique from the 14th century to the renaissance is ridiculous.
>>59852191
Don't listen to them. The truth is that noone knows. My best bet would be that the red-white-blue is politically neutral, whereas (in the 17th century) the orange flag was very pro-monarchy. Way, way of course it became a symbol of the far right, symbolizing Dutch resistance to Spanish rule
