Can confirm. My friends joke about this a lot, but it's a real driving nationalism. I can't tell you how many times people are upset about the mere idea that America isn't the best, most free country in the world, to the point where they get into such a huge argument about it and it becomes a clusterfuck.
It's not as bad now as it was in the 60s, where if you were unpatriotic, you were declared a communist which basically fucked you for life.
