Basically by age. In my Mordor younger asian ones are 100% chinks.
If I notice they're there they're probably Chinese. Though, I have to assume that by the time anyone from Japan makes it to Latvia they've traveled the world already.

Chinese tourists usually travel with large groups while japanese in small ones like 3 or 4.
