This is a bizarre complex to have but you're not alone. On of my best friends growing up was Korean and he was the same way. I remember one time I jokingly called him a "Korean fuck" and he got real serious and started following me around trying to punch me in the face. When I asked what his problem was, he goes "I hate when people make fun of other people for shit they can't help!". He seriously thought I was belittling him for being Korean instead of White and I guess this was something that bothered him so much that being reminded of it made him violent.
