I grew up in the dirty south too (Birmingham) but lived in Kentucky and Ohio as a young kid before that. My accent is therefore mostly neutral. So are my parents' accents. Not in the south anymore thank god.

Now I just kind of don't trust southern accents. I do find Midwestern to be calming and trustworthy, probably from the same effect, because all the most chill and honest people I know tend to have them.
