My parents were youngsters then and met during the '68 riots (in Le Havre, Normandie), they both ended up in the same jail twice on the same day, and apparently it was fate.

Well yes absolutely, the fact is we get to justify this double standard for the very simple reason that the right wing is fundamentally right and the left is not
It's simple, the right wants order and discipline, therefore in order to get there we are allowed to riot as much as possible.
The left wants chaos and anarchy, therefore they mustn't be allowed to riot, or they would do this permanently
