The whole origins of Ireland are shrouded in Marxism.

Real shady shit.

Marxists love the original IRA.
No wonder. Ireland and Irish nationalism have always been to the left of poltiics.

The marxist murderers you idolise (IRA) wanted to build a communist country.
It's a good thing orange-men exist to oppose your insanity.
Otherwise the last sane corner of this island would fall to you people.

Creepy stuff. Ireland's a creepy country. Like an experiment gone wrong.

They won't adapt. Look at English speakers in the Gaeltacht today, virtually none of them learn Irish despite living in an environment where Irish is dominant. In fact their adamant refusal to adapt is fast ensuring that English will be the dominant social language of all the so-called Gaeltachtaí in probably less than 20 years.

Google maps does that right now. Enter in any Irish placename and it'll give you the directions.

If this happens, we'd definitely see an increase in its day-to-day use. Albeit just place names, but it's still a start.
Secondly, Irish in schools must be taught like a second language - not like English. It'd start off more speaking of Irish, the same way we had to learn French or German.
The language is already becoming more hip to earn with events like an Reavloid in the summer.

What Christians the Irish had captured were conducted atop the most gnarled network of underground homes and walkways in County Dublin alongside the Cardinal, the Earl of Surrey and several city watch captains, and at least 1000 cheerily murmuring warriors in deerskin or Scottish quilt gathered to witness their fates. A portly local with arms like iron addressed the Cardinal and told him he knew of him, that he had the balls and backbone of a great man but they were chained like an ox to sinking stones and that he was a mere gladiator for the Procurer-Prince of Rome, a powerful machine, but to the last word the Cardinal looked upon the man like an ox-turd on his slipper

Abstainer actually. I'm out of this country as soon as I get my degree. At least I'll bring some of the language with me.
>>
>>59396667
>1 off quads

And yeah, that was the plan, but I'm going to Germany for 3-4 months in a few days, so it's going to have to be put on hold while I struggle to learn some German

>>59396829
That makes more sense to give your kid a name in English, but if you're giving a Polish one, an Irish one makes as much sense. Go either completely utilitarian or don't be a cuckold.
>>
>>59396784
>polish name
nigear le do thóil
youre in ireland, it should be an irish name
>>59396829
>I'm out of this country as soon as I get my degree
ah yes very impressive, our succesful, non-benzo, gf having, non-autistic, non-tent-living youths leaving the country in droves for no particular reason.
this is whats wrong with our country. we leave and we dont even have a real reason. my mam did the same thing. kids who can get a job easy do it. why? no one actually knows, they just dont wanna stick around
is this england's legacy? subtle, subconscious self hatred ? we have no reason to emigrate as much as we do.
>>
>>59396829
I'm a sucker for the Poles and the hence the names, hence the pl gf.
I'm gonna be a pharmacist, so pretty universal everywhere. I'm aiming for Canada if I can convince her to come along. All the Polish boys' names are extremely similar to their English counter part, whereas the girls' sound somewhat more different.

>>59396913
We're Irish. We're born with the instinct to travel. Who knows, I may get homesick and return home after a few years. All I know one thing is certain, I'm leaving.
>>
>>59396862
Are you heading to Germany for your erasmus?
>>
>>59397000
Either a short holiday for a week or 3-4 months working. I'll see where life takes my desu.
>>
>>59396953
we're not born to travel, we're born to run away. ever since the famine, its been ingrained into every irishman and irishwoman's mind that ireland is a shithole, that better places are over the sea, even if it's bullshit. i've felt it, i used feel an urge to run away as far from ireland as i could. then i realised there's nothing for me here, although there's nothing i could have ever done or can do (thanks mam)
>>
why do i get myself all passionate and winded up like this
i want to cry
i miss home
>>
>>59397028
I'll light a candle for you and hope no mussiez approach you. It's a lovely morning though. It's always nice when Ireland gets the weather.
>>59397032
I think that's where you and I differ.
>>
>>59397078
maybe youre different, but from my mams behaviour, and from how i used to feel, its running away. i blame the english for starting our diaspora with the famine
>tfw the eternal anglo ruined my life a century after independence
for fucks sake
>>
>>59397120
You're homesick, I'm sick of home.
>>
>>59397214
but why are you sick of home? why is it always irish people who fuck off for no reason?
this is the post-colonial mentality that fucks over our minds and we dont even realise it
>>
>>59397256
You've the wrong outlook.
I've seen Ireland. My father was courier and he took me everywhere with him, I've seen everything the place has to offer. And now I'm of age where I can explore other places.
>>
>>59397281
ah, i think we, as a culture, have issues that need to be addressed. maybe im wrong though. maybe im just bitter i was forced to leave my country.
>>
>>59397338
Both could be the issue, I'd say get another few Irish opinions and see where the bridge lies.
>>
>>59397361
i read this article, reviewing this book called the broken harp. i havent read it, but basically its saying we have a PTSD culture and a culture of inferiority thanks to english legacy. it also says the irish language is a way to remove this sense of inadequancy (no idea if thats spelled right) by making our identity truly distinct from englands
http://www.irishtimes.com/culture/books/cultural-genocide-the-broken-harp-identity-and-language-in-modern-ireland-by-tomás-mac-síomóin-1.2299891
i should probably read kt
>>

I can see why people would go abroad, I fully intend to. But Ireland is and always will be my home. There's just something about it. Every time I hear "Irish" or "Ireland" on the tv or see it in a newspaper, I pick up and pay more attention. There's something beautiful here, something about the -essence- of Ireland. From the dull and piss-poor weather to the grim history, to the mentality of its people that sets us aloof from conventional policies, and the hope for the country.

Regardless of the memes about being a tax haven or being moronic cuckolds, Ireland is now in the best position it has been in centuries, probably ever.

We have the youngest work force in the OECD. We have above-replenishment fertility rate. We have a network of diaspora and support, a political standing in the world marred by nothing. A political culture that actually -encourages- greed and nepotism. The IDA literally wrote the hand book on attracting foreign investment.

There's just something... Great, about Ireland.

I could be a starry eyed moron and some people may not agree with me, but the grass actually -is- greener here.

I suppose you're right in that aspect. There's some homely about here that you won't get elsewhere. Be it the conversations with strangers that feel like a family member in 5 minutes or the weather that we all seem to love to complain about. The craic, the fun, the kind that only comes from here.
Ireland may be booming once more, and I've it made up in my head that I'm leaving - but it won't be forever, I like what I have here. I just feel like there's more to life than Ireland.

As for breakie, there's no butter. However, I did eye up some left over korma from yesterday and a boil in the bag rice, so I'm in luck.
>>
fuck im pathetic. im whinging about my mam's decisions to strangers at two in the morning
>>
>>59397735
I intend to make as much fucking money as I can while I'm young and devoting as much as I possibly can to promoting the Irish language - the contribution from the Government is quite piss poor, to be fair.

>>59397739
> I just feel like there's more to life than Ireland.
Absolutely, there's no point in staying in one place forever, you'll end up as an old bitter bastard with 3 kids who only want his money and only send post cards as he nears his death bed. But Ireland is home.

The worst thing to do is trying to force something, if people want to make the threads and talk, they'll make the threads and talk. If the threads are being forced, they'll turn away from them and not bother.

Here's another thing:

You guys speak English. It's the most widly spoken language in the world. You're situated in-between two powerful and influential anglo countries (America, UK), and yet you want to revive Irish?

Like wtf lmao

It doesn't make any sense to me.
You must be able to see that the Irish language is for illiterates, right?

I mean, look at the names you people have.
Here's an example:

Rory. Nice, short, simple and to the point.

The Irish spelling?
Fucking Ruairidh.
It sounds like some Lovecraftian monster.
You can just imagine the Irish father drunk with the priest asking for the name.
"Is it an O there paddy?"
"Aye... it's an ooo uuuu an aaaa-"
"An a, paddy?"
"...ugh yep yep it's an aye aye"
"An I paddy?"
etc
