It's quite close to Algerian in vocabulary, and obviously Libyan as well. I think it's one of the best sounding dialect of the Maghreb with Eastern Algerian and the old dialect of Algiers.

Arabic shouldn't be harder than learning any non european language. Plus start with fus7a first it will give a basic vocabulary that will help you with most other dialects.
Then you can learn Mooccan or Tunisian, but really even Maghrebi dialects are not that hard.
you need to practice daily. If you just practice 1 hour of arabic day you should be proficient in a 6 months to a year.
