I'm going to be working in Brussels for a couple months, and having never been to Europe before, I am completely inexperienced.
What are some must-visit cities that are within a 4 or 5 hour train ride from Brussels?

Dusseldorf and Cologne are probably the most famous nearby German cities, but they look bland to me in the pictures. I didn't have time to visit them, though. I'd not expect much from them, but probably worth a visit just to confirm whether they are shit or not. Trains in Europe are cheap.
