To visit or to live?
Visiting is nice, you get a taste of Han culture in a fairly clean and Westernized environment.
Living there is hell. Wages are stagnant (and have been for years), politics are basically single issue, identity is all fucked, old people are conservative and convinced that they're Chinese (just not Red Chinese; for a long time, they were convinced they would retake the mainland), young people are edgy liberals and convinced that they're totally different from the mainland Chinese (14/88 aboriginal heritage is strong with them), bright and educated people are leaving, everything feels stagnant, shouldn't exist as a fucking country/whatever the fuck it is
