Some pizzas are too dry/small to be eaten using a knife and fork.
However some pizzas are too juicy to be eaten holding it with your hands.
Europeans do both.
And for others, wine might sound too "fancy" a drink, but to europeans living in wine countries, it's a common drink. We drink with any kind of food, or no food at all. I heated one of those pizzas two days ago for dinner and ate it up with two glasses of wine. I used my hands. Last friday I cooked a homemade pizza. It was filled with ingredients and juicy so I used a fork and knife. I drank a beer that time and then some apple juice.
