>lol if u take guns away from da peepholes, only criminals will have them and u cant self defence
Do Americans honestly believe that whatever white kid will shoot up next week's school will get the gun(s) illegally and not just from their parent's draw?

I'm getting sick and tired of these reruns
>>
Even in germany, a country where it's almost impossible to own a gun we have school shootings from time to time.
France has stricter laws than most states and got fucked by terrorists, who could have been killed if the population would have been armed.
>>
>>58842233
you should be sick and tired all the school shootings

Wow 7 whole shootings.

Ban knives, Auscuck.
>>
>>58841949
is that all we've had? that seems low

in any event, Finland had 2 school shootings in the period 2007-2008. we have 60x the population so 120 shootings in that time period would be good for the population proportionality

but i don't think this graph is correct
>>
>>58841949
I think it's a pretty good argument.
But it only applies to a country which's population is already armed.
The criminals won't give the weapons back if you try to demilitarize the population
>>
>>58842410
tell me when knives don't serve a practical purpose
>>
>>58842474
in any event it would be roughly impossible to implement. not that many guns are registered with the government with the exception of some things like full autos and SBRs and the like. if the government wanted to seize all guns they'd have to violate the 4th Amendment and raid all sorts of homes
>>
>>58842497
Are you implying that guns don't have a practical purpose?

Let me guess, you live in a city? How on earth are we supposed to handle it when our ranch gets raided by a pack of wolves or bears or boars, just let them attack our animals?

good thing you can get guns if that's a problem :^)
>>
>>58842593
Yes I know that I have relatives in NT who are armed to the teeth, I was disputing your point that guns have no practical purpose
>>
>>58842624
let me rephrase, guns serve a practical purpose to a very small percent of the population, like basically anything does
knives on the other hand are basically needed by everyone for stuff as simple as cutting foods and opening boxes
>>
>>58842651
OK I don't dispute that point, but again you can't legally implement anything at this point in the US because there are already over 300 million guns in distribution and no one wants to turn theirs in

But the woman who killed those kids in Cairns was an Abo who lived near a KFC. When did she need a kitchen knife for? To slice her potato and gravy?

No knives for Abos. Or anyone living near a KFC, BK or McDonalds.
>>
>>58842744
what kind of knife did she use? it's not easy to kill someone with a standard kitchen knife
>>
>>58842359
your mum should be sick of my dick, but she isn't
>>
>>58842792
Pretty sure it would have been a kitchen knife. 7 of them were her kids, so they'd be easy enough to shiv.

>Aussies should need a licence to own a knife, have it registered and stored at a police station when not in use.
>>
>>58842497
When you're stabbing schoolchildren

Why do Auskeks need high capacity assault knives? No one would ever reasonably need anything more than a plastic knife
>>
>>58842535

But if you live in the middle of nowhere here you can get guns for that very reason.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2012/08/02/did-gun-control-work-in-australia/

>So what have the Australian laws actually done for homicide and suicide rates? Howard cites a study (pdf) by Andrew Leigh of Australian National University and Christine Neill of Wilfrid Laurier University finding that the firearm homicide rate fell by 59 percent, and the firearm suicide rate fell by 65 percent, in the decade after the law was introduced, without a parallel increase in non-firearm homicides and suicides. That provides strong circumstantial evidence for the law's effectiveness.
>>
>>58843538
I think more control would be a good idea, but frankly it's not really doable in the US
>>
>>58843538
>firearm homicide rate fell by 59 percent, and the firearm suicide rate fell by 65 percent
Not baiting, but what about the overall murder/suicide rates?
>>
>>58843604

> without a parallel increase in non-firearm homicides and suicides.

>>
>>58843538
>Correlation = causation
Homicides declined dramatically during that same time period in the US also
>>
>>58843642
Oh, stopped reading there. arygado
>>
>>58843663

>What is significant is the decline the laws caused in the firearm suicide rate, which Leigh and Neill estimate at a 74 percent reduction for a buyback of that size. This is even higher than the overall decline in the suicide rate, because the gun buybacks' speed varied from state to state. In states with quick buybacks, the fall in the suicide rate far exceeded the fall in states with slower buybacks:

Maybe we shouldn't feed developing brains mind altering pills?
They are always involved but nobody questions big pharma.

We've always had guns, we've always had upset young virgin guys.
We haven't always drugged every kid with an issue.

This. US Gun laws affect the US only. As long as they don't force their guns on everyone else to boost their gun industry, there's no need for discussion.
