ENOUGH
>>
I don't see the issue. You have to memorize the word anyways
>>
I once tried learning French but a few weeks into it I thought to myself "What the fuck am I doing learning this gay language and for what purpose?"

So I stopped. Rule Britannia
>>
are you the butt plug guy
>>
>>58793359
French being my first language, I don't know why ROC has to learn french for us, english is more used and more useful, but french should not be mandatory, should be optional with some benefits at most.
I like the attempt to learn it but I don't want it forced onto people. And from what ive heard french class are mostly french movies with english subtitles

Canadians have to learn french?
>>
>>58794482

It's mandatory up until about grade 9 or 10 or so then you can choose a different second language course. Nobody actually becomes fluent from that shit unless they go into some special program to focus on it, it's a joke.
>>
>>58794482
Yes.

But only in elementary school (At least for me, that other guy says grade 9 so idk).

It's a waste of time tBh. No one learns shit
>>
>>58794523
>>58794571
Sounds like us and Spanish
Unless of course you went to one of those schools that actually offered a cool language

Just like tumblr, the fops.
>>
>>58794742
Yup.

Everyone in my grade hated French class. Forcing a language onto kids will only make them dislike it.

This forced bilingual shit definitely contributes to Anglo-Canada's disdain for French Canada
>>
>>58794482
Yeah. I hated it when I was a kid and dropped out of it in gr. 10. I'm relearning it on my spare time though since I don't want to be bullied for being a monolingual

Are you an idiot?

that's why I took Swedish for my language, way over half of the words were one gender so it was easy to know the ones that weren't

I already forgot most of it because I never used it

Some people in my region speak it as their daily language (which is why it was an option) but not my family or anyone in my neighborhood
>>
>>58795365
Interesting, what region is this?

Even in sweden 99% would instantly switch to English when they heard you struggling
>>
>>58795394
Minnesota

According to Wiki there's about 500k speakers here with 50k using it daily at home. No clue how well they speak it
>>
>>58795286
Native english speakers have little to gain from learning it unless they are going to do something in France or western africa.
>>
>>58795443
It's spoken in more middle parts of Africa too - Congo, DRC, etc.

In fact the DRC is technically the largest Francophone country in the world since its population is larger than that of France, but the literacy rate is low enough that France has more speakers (obviously)

After you learn about 350 nouns and their genders, memorizing the gender becomes second nature.

THAT'S IT
>>
>>58796149
But you know it, what's the issue? Just learn passé composé when you speak, you will only get faced with passé simple in texts as you said, and it's easily recognisable, no need to learn it by heart.

Try learning a Bantu language (like Swahili), they have anywhere up to 21 noun classes, of which six or seven are commonly used.

It's typically hard for people who don't speak Germanic or Romance languages.
For Europeans it's quite easy but it's also not easy for people who don't watch that much English media which yes is still possible for certain (young people even) in somewhat closed off communities.
>>
>>58793282
Learning French was extremely easy for me, genders aren't an issue.

...although it does help that my native language is Spanish.
>>
Why are Canadian so whiny? In a billingual state, I find it normal to learn both language, it's not like people in Québec are not learning English. And French is easy as fuck. If they are not happy with it they can fuck off to Minnesota ...

it always depends on from which mother language you start
for germans it's probably one of the easiest languages, french is rather simple as well, but try learning japanese or some other alien shit and you get fucked

I honestly don't understand why in the 1960s the Canadian government didn't go for a properly bilingual country. Instead we have a French country and an English country within the same border.
>>
>>58799545
Indeed, especially since a lot of English speaking Canadians are French Canadians, so it's not like it's not part of their culture and youwouldn't have separatism problems in Québec
