to be fair, starbucks is really jewy with their drinks. my gf likes coffee so we went to starbucks when we were walking around and i got an iced thing. shit cost like 7 bucks and was literally a bucket of ice with barely any drink in it. im a beta though so i didn't complain and i just munched on the ice cubes.

Yes and no. I've seen Starbucks in England when I lived there but they've been outperformed by other chains that sell things at virtually the same quality and prices like Costa and Cafe Nero.
I think a more plausible explanation would be that other coffee chains got a head start before Starbucks arrived in Europe, excluding countries that already had a strong coffee culture to begin with (Italy, France,Spain, etc.). These countries don't have coffee megachains nearly anywhee, as far as I know.

Like if you see in the this pic, it's taken from inside a Starbucks and right across the street is a Starbucks. They found out that a competing coffee shop was going to open up in that location so they bulldogged it, bought the location out from under them and just put in a second Starbucks. They don't give a shit. No one else is allowed to play.
