My body is fucked from a bike crash years ago, I limp around like a sad old sack of shit. I have literally one single person who I would consider a friend. We talk online every few weeks and meet up two or three times a year. I have a gf but this relationship is going fucking nowhere, and has been that way for the past 7 years. These are the only two people whose contacts I have in my phone who are not my family or work colleagues. The people I work with I barely even know, despite working with them for over 5 years now. I do quite a lot, but I think there's some national confidence in the Australians/Kiwis that I envy (and a corresponding cringe/lack of confidence on my own part.) plus some dissatisfaction that I was never consulted, it was just chosen for me. As dice-rolls go, coming up a Scot isn't that bad.
Plus the general climate and odd positioning (and effects on culture in entertainment, games and such) and little things like that appeal to me quite a lot [except obvious disadvantages like high prices], whereas for the most part Scottish culture in those kind of areas is just British culture with a few "Except for viewers in Scotland..." moments.
Maybe there's just some inbuilt Scottish desire to emigrate. It would explain a lot.

They are trying to teach from the beginning of fucking computers and onwards, forcing us to do things in the most tedious ways because 'it will help us learn.'

-force us to use vim and not allowed to use any sort of IDE
-get instant 0 for doing something that is right but not necessarily the lecturers version of right

Obviously if you want a complete understanding of programming, maybe to go into academia or some really hardcore programming this wouldn't be a problem. However, for the large majority it is just a waste of time, effort and money trying to remember and learn things that will probably never serve useful for you in your career.
Probably dropping Uni as a whole at the end of this semester and going to try teach myself a bit of Web Dev type programming. Or if that's too difficult I'll try find a more specialised course that focusses on that (programming bootcamp type shit) as apposed to EVERYTHING.

Squat rack is the rack the barbell is on for squats and they have safety bars you can adjust the height on so if you fail you don't fucking die
Smith machine is a bar attached to a machine, not a freeweight, really really bad thing to get used to because it takes away all work from your stabilizers
Front squats are kinda weird to learn so yeah just start with what I posted, it's what most noobs start with, if you decide to switch once you have a good enough grasp on form of each of the lifts you should branch out, maybe even a bodybuilding routine like PPL
