Austrian politicians having their own songs.
Why is this a thing?

The sad part is that they're actually being serious.
It's the same shit here senpai. It's a part of the political culture since the late 40s and it reached it's peak during the 1960 election with Jânio Quadros. He used a broom to represent his campaign and said that he would "sweep corruption with it". Turns out he was a complete lunatic that spent months locked in his office speaking to his subordinates with little notes, outlawed bikinis and resigned thinking the people would revolt and put him back in power.

It became kind of a thing after that and nowadays every candidate has its own election time jingle. Populism produces nice things sometimes.
Last presidential elections:

well at least it sounds like they are putting some effort into it, unlike our local mouthbreathers

Still wondering why this is a thing..

If you knew what she's "rapping" about
>>58753803
The Van der Bellen one isn't bad either
>>58753803
Yeah, since jingles are a nice way to make you remember a candidate even if you don't want it. Some of them are really well done and it's pretty fun during election time. Maybe they will put some effort next elections, but that first one you posted is not that bad.
>>58753864
It's still just a "cover" of an old song
>>58753823
Easy way to be remembered, catchy, quick way to deliver your message and you will associate the jingle to the candidate instantly.

It's still not a positive effect when literally everyone makes fun of it.
>>58754018
Well, that's why it needs to be well done and sound nice, otherwise it will have the opposite effect.
>>58754058
Yeah, check out the links. Only one actually sounds good, and they keep doing it (for the opposite effect?)
