>ask my american friend to put his shoes in my rack when he visited
>"dude what the fuck is that??"
>tfw my book rack is my shoe rack
>ask my american friend to come inside
>"dude how the fuck am I suppose to fit through that??"
>>58355277
>implying we don't have shoe racks
but why?
Also those shoes are literally 80% filth. Keep your shoes clean and they won't be such a huge problem. You spend so mucch money on them, the least you could do is not walk in shit.
>not just deposit your shoes somewhere around the entrance
>YOU HAVE TO PUT THEM IN THE RACK
its not like they are dirty or stuff
>americans have specially made shoes to wear around the house
>>58355433
Do Europeans in colder climates not wear slippers indoors? I guess thicker socks will do the same.

WHAT KIND OF FAG ARE YOU TAKE ME FOR
>>58355521
well its quite organized, shoes are placed next to next in pars infront of the entrance
>>58355396
This. This is what the entrance to all American homes look like. There's an area just just in the entrace that you take your shoes off on. Almost always it a mat or a small rug. If it's a carpeted floor, there's always a hard marble or wood section right at the entrance that has the same purpose. Shoe racks go into your clothes closet.
Goddamn foreigners with your no easter bullshit and now this.
>>58355692
This is the most honest picture I have seen in a long time.
>shoes literally only touch my driveway, my car, and various parking lots
>expecting me to take off my shoes when there's literally nothing on them
Buy a vacuum cleaner, jeez.

looks like the entrance to a dentist but very "clean"
>>58355787
some people do the mat on the side thing too. Depends entirely on the household.
>>58355873
>>58355924
This is a more common representation of how we actually do it.
>>58355982
Fucking forgot the image.
>>58355873
*also haveing a bank to take on your shoes is very nice
>the household doesnt has a shoehorn
>>58356018
Nordic interior design is so impotent.
>>58356045
What is with you guys and shoe horns? I've never had the need for one.
>>58355692
I should add that the protocol for taking off one's shoes (or not) at someone else's house can differ. People often don't take their shoes off at someone's house if they don't know the person well, or if they're there for a medium-to-large sort of gathering where there may be people they don't know.
>>58356080
I blame IKEA. There's actually tons of interesting stuff coming out of the Nordic countries. But IKEA is all people know about.

Shoe horns make sure that you don't destroy the form of your shoe.
>>58356113
Uh not me. Ill go shoeless where I want and when I want. No one gives a fuck whats on your feet. Youre too self concious

:^) it just works
>>58356104
kek. They were only for certain kind of shoes. Totally obsolete these days since shoes now tend to to have pull tags on the backs of them. Plus the dress shoes are a bit more elastic these days so they slip right on.
>>58356332
Thanks, this is a lot better. Those pillows and white sticks made me want to launch Norway into space.
>>58355277
You don't take of your shoes if you visit someone and if they ask me to I usually never visit them again unless I know I'm going to be outside their house the whole time.
>>58356332
Does the dresser have proper wall brackets so it doesn't tip over and kill babby?
>>58356531
kek
>>58356478
I frequently make use of a shoehorn, it does help protect the heel. Especially in dress shoes is it pragmatic.
>>58356522
Why?
>>58356189
>>58356230
>>58356626
I just use my index+middle finger. Why go through the trouble of adding a tool?
>>58356626
That's you though. Here even our dress shoes just have pull tags on them. It's a lot more practical/sensible than having to use an external device. It's probably the same over there whether you realized it or not, not that I'm thinking of it.
>>58356680
>>I just use my index+middle finger. Why go through the trouble of adding a tool?
Assuming you're not fat, it takes mere seconds to use a shoe horn. The benefit is that you protect the integrity of the shoe.
>>58355755
Kind of embarrassing, man.
>>58355277
That pisses me off, Americans ask me to DO NOT put my shoes off inside of the house. WTF man?
>>58356478
i use it for sneakers and stuff like every day
its way quicker and doesnt fuck up the "heals", i dont know the right english word
try them, they are like $2
>>58356680
It is better at keeping the form of the heel than your fingers are. I have extensive experience with both.
>Ask american friend to help himself to a drink
>"dude where the fuck are the cups??"
>>58356786
you just can't make this shit up
>>58356733
Like this. Why is this so wrong?
Obviously not dress shoes, just an example.
>>58356680
its quicker and better
also you wont squeeze your fingers
>>58356851
We've already told you it destroys the shoe at the heel.
>>58356626
It means you're inhospitable that you would rather trouble your guests with silly rules than take a moment to mop your floor or vacuum after a planned invitation where a mess is expected to occur anyways, I'll save them the trouble and never return or if I care about the person enough I'd just have them come around my place.
>>58356851
>hasn't untied the shoelaces
For fuck sake America.
>>58356851
it would be so much easier if would use a shoe horn
also shoes dont wear out that much
>>58356910
This seems very entitled to me. What's the problem in whipping off your shoes?
>>58356851
You cover a larger surface with a shoehorn, making the pressure on the heel lower.
>>58356919
But then there's no use for a shoe horn.
>>58356975
>You cover a larger surface with a shoehorn, making the pressure on the heel lower.
Ok, I am convinced now. Thank you Norway.
>>58356997
try it, they are dirt cheap if you dont get them for free
personally i didnt want to live without one and most people i told to get one aggree
>>58356910
You sound like a fat slob that never showers, brushes teeth or takes care of hygiene.
>>58356975
The very little amount of walking we do is done on concrete sidewalks, and if you stepped on dog shit or something you aren't going to walk into someone else's house.
>>58356975
>What's the problem in whipping off your shoes?
I have a friend that makes me take my shoes off but he never cleans his floors so my socks get covered in grease and grime.
>>58357115
>>The very little amount of walking we do is done on concrete sidewalks, and if you stepped on dog shit or something you aren't going to walk into someone else's house.
Sidewalks aren't clean.
>>58357115
Because you're too fat to walk?
>>58357236
Because we can afford cars vlad.
>>58355787
Here's how we do it at my house. You people and your silly racks.
>>58357290
>that disgusting carpet
I wonder how many animals have defecated on that shit...
>>58357290
>Carpets that cover the entire floor
I will never understand why this American meme.
>>58357159
That is a reasonable excuse, I have never been in a house so dirty I wouldn't consider taking off my shoes. A inhabited house, that is.
>>58357341
Used to be cheaper than putting down actual flooring. That's changed in the last few years since fake hardwood is under a dollar a sq ft.
>>58357236
Because most of America is suburbs and nothing is close enough to walk to. Also sidewalks aren't everywhere so you'd have to walk in the street. Public transport is shit outside of large cities but is still shit-tier when compared to Europe. Cars are cheap here so even most of the poor can afford one. Bikes? We only ride bikes if:
1. You're super poor
2. It's a hobby
3. You're a kid
So yeah, we don't really walk places.
>>58357097
And you sound like a gay homo that has a dirt house anyways.
>>58357380
4. Sell Drugs
>>58357341
Most older homes have wooden floors under the carpet.
>>58357383
Nah, I just happen to like keeping my own home clean and sanitary. If that means not letting slobs like you inside then so be it.
>>58357380
>We only ride bikes if
t. flyover shithole
>>58357427
I doubt it since you have people taking off their shoes, sounds like you just try to keep it from getting dirty but do the little amount of work possible to keep it clean.
>>58357489
You do know, don't you, that the less dirt you bring in, the less dirt you have to clean up? Or is this the first you're hearing of it?
>>58356851

I keep my house clean too the difference is I don't expect people to take off their shoes like a dick.
>>58357649
>>I keep my house clean too the difference is I don't expect people to take off their shoes like a dick.
I didn't know that expecting people to understand common courtesy is considered being a dick. My house, my rules.
>>58357649
I don't find having a shoe-free house dickish at all. Why do you think this is the case?
>>58357561
B-b-better? Pls no bully :(
>>58357692
Exactly, inhospitable so I would never go to your house again.
>>58357716
>>58357720
Do you also throw a tantrum everytime you go through the airport?
>>58357587
>he doesn't live in LA/SF/NYC but thinks he isn't from a flyover shithole
>>58357707
You're asking to take my shoes off like if I was your child or your side chick, hell nah I'll see you later bud.
>>58357802
I've never travelled so I wouldn't know about airports but I would probably give the guys a weird look, I do the same with people that check my bags at the store
I don't understand why some people consider it rude to remove your shoes in America, it's utterly stupid.
>>58357839
>It's utterly stupid.
Well, it is America.
