China is doing less to use Africa as a resource colony than the west. I'm sorry but that webm from Empire of Dust just is not representative of China's policy across all of Africa. China has less protectionism against African goods entering their markets than the west has. China is trying to win the favor of African governments to build a sphere of influence so they have access to resources AND trade partners so they are less dependent on the west. That requires Africa has a decent amount of purchasing power to be a worthwhile trade partner with Africa.
