Hey Turks I have a question for you: how well can you understand other Turkic languages? Which are mutually intelligible, what sounds like total gibberish What do they sound like to you in general? Weird, similar? Some examples:
Azeri
>Bütün insanlar ləyaqət və hüquqlarına görə azad bərabər doğulurlar
Bashkir
>Barlıq keşelär irekle, däräjäläre häm xoquqtarı tiñ bulıp tıualar
Karachay-Balkar
>Bütöw adamla erkin bolub emda sıyları bla haqları teñ bolub tuwadıla
Kazakh
>Barlıq adamdar twmısınan azat jäne qadir-qasïyeti men quqıqtarı teñ bolıp dünïyege keledi
Khakas
>Polğan na kïzï pos paza tiŋ törïpçe paza tiŋ postıŋ sinïn pïlïngenïn paza törelerïnïŋde polça
Kyrgyz
>Bardık adamdar öz bedelinde jana ukuktarında érkin jana teñ ukuktuu bolup jaralat.
Tatar
>Barlıq keşelär dä azat häm üz abruyları häm xoquqları yağınnan tiñ bulıp tualar.
Turkmen
>Hemme adamlar öz mertebesi we hukuklary boýunça deň ýagdaýda dünýä inyärler.
Tuvan
>Bygy kižiler xostyg baza mөzyzy bolgaš ergeleri deņ kƣldƣr tөryttyner.
Uyghur
>Hemme adem zatidinla erkin, izzet-hörmet we hoquqta babbarawer bolup tughulghan
Uzbek
>Barcha odamlar erkin, qadr-qimmat va huquqlarda tang bo'lib tug'iladilar
Yakut
>Con barıta beye suoltatıgar uonna bıraabıgar teñ buolan törüüller
To me they all look more or less the same.

azeri and turkmen since they are from the oghuz branch
>>58330210
I think it's way easier to understand listening to them but on paper some of them looks like a whole different language
>>58330210
Azeri, Turkmen and kyrgyz are understandable here, but others can also be depending on the sentence and if its spoken etc.

This, also if given a month, I'd probably be able to speak fluently.
It depends a lot on the skills you've developed within the Anatolian dialects.
Besides Turkey no one speaks Istanbul Turkish.
Generally, the Oghuz branches are relatively easy to understand.
I heard most differences are shifts that follow patterns (like a g becomes a k pretty consistenly).
When we don't understand it, I imagine it sounds to us like Turkish sounds to others.

I just got breakfast at a Turkish restaurant. A medium-rare lamb steak with eggs sunny side up, and some pita and fig jam. Oh yeah and the eggs had kashari cheese. Shit was mad dank.
>>58335200
>steak for breakfast
I don't think thats turkish mate.
I believe only Ughurs can understand and speak a Turkic language that most Turks will comprehend
>>58335626
The restaurant I ate at is not a cheap kebab stand. It's nice.
